WRITING 9

Hi

My name's Laia and I live in South London. I like the area where I live, so I want to improve it.

As a result, there isn't anywhere for young people to go.

In my opinion the young people spend all their time hanging around the streets. There are sometimes problems with vandalism and graffiti. There aren't any facilities for them. I think the conncil should do something about this. I'm sure they must have a youth café, and this people go there.
SPEAKING 9

Laia: Hey, guys. What's going on here?

Marta: We're trying to organize a barbacue. We want to make some money for the youth club.

Laia: Cool! Can I do anything?

Marta: Yes. There's a lot to do. We need some food and drink.

Laia: Yeah, my dad's helping with that.

Marta: And I Think we should make some invitations.

Laia: I can do that, if you want.

Marta: OK. Thanks, Laia.

Laia: Then all we need is some music.

Marta: You should phone Beth - she's in a band.

Laia: OK. Great.

SPEAKING 8

Marta: Laia, what's happened? Are you OK?

Laia: No, I've cut my arm.

Marta: How did happen?

Laia: It was an accident. I fell while I was playing basketball.

Marta: Oh, right. Have you clean it?

Laia: Yes, I have, but it's hurts.

Marta: Do you need help?

Laia: No, I think it'll be OK.

Marta: Mmm. Maybe you need to see a doctor.

SPEAKING 7

Laia: Marta...Marta!

Marta: Yes? Oh, hi, Laia

Laia: Are you doing anything this evening?

Marta: No, nothing special. Why?

Laia: I'm going to a basketball match if you're interested.

Marta: Yes, great. What time does it start?

Laia: It's on at eight o'clock at the sports centre.

Marta: OK. Shall I meet you outside at about seven thirty?

Laia: Yeah, OK. I'll see you there.

Marta: See you later, Laia.

THE TITANIC - A tragic story

· Inside the Titanic

The Titanic was a luxury ship. Rich passagers paid £865 for a suite decorated in elegant styles. There was also the famous Grand Staircase wich is in the film Titanic too.

· The Titanic's destination

The titanic's first voyage was from Southampton, in England, to New York City, USA. The ship left on 10 april 1912...but never arrived at her destination.

· The tragedy

On 14 April, four days after leaving Southampton, the Titanic was in the North Atlantic. The seas was calm but visibility was low. At 11.40 pm, a lookout saw a large iceberg near the ship. 37 seconds later, the Titanic hit the iceberg and water entered the ship. At first the passengers didn't panic...two hours and 40 minutes later, at 2.20 am, the Titanic sank...

· Who died?

Of the 2,224 people on board, only 710 survived: there were not enough lifeboats. Most surviviors were women, children and the rich: 60% of first-class passengers survived. But only 42% of second-class and less than 25% of third-class passengers survived.

· MY HEART WILL GO ON - CELINE DION

Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you,
That is how I know you go on

Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you go on

Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

Love can touch us one time
And last for a lifetime
And never let go till we're one

Love was when I loved you
One true time I hold to
In my life we'll always go on

Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

You're here, there's nothing I fear,
And I know that my heart will go on
We'll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
